This August review for my Discovery Project is a bit late – trying to catch here! To say that this month was busy for me is an understatement. I look back at this month’s collage and I am reminded of all that I did last month! August was full of planning – the launch of Gabrielle Loves, birthday parties, celebrations, anniversaries, and of course, my trip to London and Italy. There were days this month that I almost forgot to take a picture – some of these images were captured just before midnight! Definitely a first for me. I’m looking forward to a quiet fall – and more time for my Discovery project! With eight months down, I definitely see the end of the tunnel – and I have begun to think of ways that I can present my work, or what I would like to do with images once the year is over. One thing’s for sure, this project will always hold a near and dear place in my heart. My favorite image from this month? Taken on August 31, 2009 in Venice:
There is something about morning light gracefully hitting the water…. Please find all the images for my discovery project here. Also, you can catch up on my previous month’s reviews as well. Images from Italy soon to follow. 3 comments
I’m home. Extremely tired, but so full from my trip! I have a stack of polaroids to scan and almost 8GB of photos to process. Italy is, quite simply, beautiful. The shot above was taken with my vintage polaroid in Venice, Italy shortly before sunset. More soon….. 6 comments
My husband and I are off for a few days in Europe. We’ll spend a day in London visiting family, then some time alone in Italy! I have been looking forward to this trip for quite some time – and the reason I was on the hunt for more polaroid film. I’m armed with my Nikon D90 and my polaroid 660 land camera. And I can’t wait to document visually what I see and experience, and of course – share it with you in this space. I considered putting my blog on auto-pilot. Then I realized that I have yet to take any time off. So, my friends, I’m officially taking a blog break while I am in Italy. I’ll see you in September – with many more images to share! 11 comments 1 comment
We are trying to soak up the last bits of summer….. Enjoying cooler evenings, kinda bummed about the days getting shorter, savoring watermelon after dinner, and absolutley living in our flip flops! +++++++++++++ Thanks so much to everyone who left words of encouragement on my last post! It truly made my day! 4 comments
When I came across this inspirational poem last week, the words spoke to me in ways that I could have never imagined. I have so many hopes and dreams for my photography and where I would like to see my business going. I have evolved in this space, and I am encouraged by every comment and e-mail that I receive! As you might know, I am a self-taught photographer. My work is a direct result of my experimentation with photography and finding my own style. I have never had my work “judged” before – so you can imagine my apprehension when I submitted my work for the first time to a photography exhibit. I received confirmation that two of the three images that I submitted – ‘be happy‘ and ‘collect your thoughts‘ – were accepted! I am absolutely floored, thankful, and honored all at the same time. The opening reception is October 1 – and I can’t wait to actually attend a gallery opening for a photography exhibit that will feature some of my work. Little steps towards a big dream….. 17 comments
